Graduate Student Researchers (GSRs)Graduate Student Researchers are employed by faculty members to conduct research; students seeking employment as a GSR are encouraged to contact faculty directly. To be eligible to hold a GSR position, a graduate student must be enrolled in 12 units and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above. If you are on either PELP or Filing Fee status, please remember that you may only hold an academic position for one quarter during your academic career. Graduate students may work no more than fifteen quarters as a GSR, without being granted an exception to do so by the Office of Graduate Studies. GSRs are paid according to the compensation plan agreed by their home program, not by the hiring department. Students in the Graduate Program in Statistics are hired either at Step III or Step IV, can be employed at no more than 49%, and are paid under the following compensation plan: Students who have not advanced to PhD candidacy (Step III):
Students who have advanced to PhD candidacy (Step IV):
GSRs who are employed at 25% or more are eligible for full fee remissions on their in-state fees. They also receive a 100% remission on their Non-Resident Tuition. GSRs are also eligible for Graduate Work-Study. |
