FACULTY POSITION IN STATISTICS

Department of Statistics, University of California, Davis

The Department of Statistics at UC Davis invites applications for multiple tenure-track Assistant Professor, tenured Associate and Full Professor positions from qualified individuals with a Ph.D. in Statistics or a related field. Applicants are expected to have active research interests in statistical methods that are related to large and complex or massive data sets. Special consideration will be given to candidates with demonstrated interests in machine learning, geometrical and nonlinear methods in statistics, including the analysis of spatio-temporal, functional-longitudinal, shapes, networks and other object data, deep/innovative scientific applications in various fields such as biological sciences and imaging, and big data-computing intensive methods. Candidates must possess a strong commitment to providing service to the department, university and statistics community. An outstanding record of research, professional activity and teaching are required for appointment with tenure, and demonstrated interest and the ability to achieve such a record are required for a tenure-track appointment. The position will begin 07/01/2015.

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT:

LECTURER POSITION IN STATISTICS

Department of Statistics, University of California, Davis

The Department of Statistics at the University of California, Davis, anticipates one or more openings for a part-time or full-time Lecturer for the delivery of the department’s undergraduate curriculum during the 2014-15 academic year depending on the instructional needs of the department.  The courses to be taught may include introductory statistics as well as other lower and upper division undergraduate courses.  Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in statistics and have prior experience teaching statistics (preferably at the college/university level).  Salary is commensurate with the candidate’s training and experience.  These positions are covered by a collective bargaining agreement.

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT:

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW POSITION IN STATISTICS

(Functional Data Analysis)

Department of Statistics, University of California, Davis

A postdoctoral position in the area of Functional Data Analysis is available in the Department of Statistics, University of California, Davis, beginning immediately through June 2016 with the possibility of extension depending on funding.  

Requirements and Expectations: PhD in Statistics or a related field; Interest, experience and excellent skills in data analysis and in programming in R, C++ and Matlab; Interest and ability to participate in the analysis of observational nutrition and growth data; Interest in and ability for methodological research in functional data analysis. Prior experience with functional data analysis is preferred but not required.  

The position is funded by a grant from the Bill and Melissa Gates Foundation (investigators: Hans-Georg Müller (hgmueller@ucdavis.edu) and Jane-Ling Wang (janelwang@ucdavis.edu)).  The Postdoctoral Fellow will be mentored by the investigators. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT:

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW POSITION IN STATISTICS

Department of Statistics, University of California, Davis


Postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Department of Statistics, University of California, Davis with an initial appointment of 2 years and a negotiable start date. The position is open to US citizens, permanent residents and nationals. The applicant should be a recent Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics, or should expect to finish such a degree in 2013/14. We are seeking candidates showing clear promise for being capable of developing cutting edge statistical / computational methodology pertaining to modern areas of statistics involving large and complex data, including, but not limited to, medical imaging, visualization, graphical models, statistical network analysis, functional data analysis, manifold learning or statistical computing.

Position is funded through an NSF Research Training Group (RTG). The postdoctoral fellow is expected to be an active member of the RTG, which consists of a dynamic group of Statistics faculty and collaborators from Neuroscience, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Cosmology and Entomology. RTG activities include teaching and training/mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.
